Huatees peanuts are a traditional Mexican snack commonly referred to as, “Cacahuates Japoneses,” translation being, “Japanese Peanuts.” OK, we know what you’re thinking… Japanese? I thought they were Mexican. Well that fusion is what makes these nuts so fun. The father of the snack actually lived most of his life in Mexico but, as you may have guessed, was of Japanese descent. Over the years, the snack evolved into one of Mexico’s most beloved snacks.
WHAT DOES NON GMO MEAN?
If you’ve shopped in a natural foods store in recent months, you’ve no doubt seen products bearing the label “GMO-free” or “contains only non-GMO ingredients.” The acronym GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms, which refers to any food product that has been altered at the gene level.
